All our kits are supplied with the necessary supplies and instructions to complete the bear. You will need your own bear making supplies to construct the bear- scissors, pins, sewing needles, filler and if you want to add weight, then you will need to purchase either glass beads or steel shot.
It is not always possible to use the same mohair as in the picture. We try and match the best that we can. We will advise if this is the case. Some kits are made to order, we need a few days to prepare them.
Irene is in the shop Monday,Wednesday Friday and Saturday. If you experience a problem with making your bear, please call and arrange to pop in and get some help.
TIP: Once you have traced out your pattern pieces, position them on the fabric supplied, making sure they all fit before cutting out. When cutting mohair, do not cut the fabric, try sliding the scissors to avoid cutting into the pile. Fabric that has a stretch or tends to fray, stabilize. I make use of a watered down wood glue, if I do not have fray check, fray stop, available. Watch the nose area with the “glue” you do not want it rock hard as it will make embroidering the nose very difficult. When positioning the eyes, hold the bear upside down, you will get a better perspective of the eye placement.
Nicky Bear patterns and OOAK bears (one of a kind) are made by International Artist Nicky Holmes. Nicky is an excellent bear maker, having won many awards and will be offering workshops at Fred-i-Bear. Please refer to our workshop page to see when these workshops will be held.
